Here are the first pictures of Cinnamon (Cinnie) and Chief’s puppies. As some of you know, instead of calling them red ribbon boy, etc. we like to have them named for the time they are with us. If the puppies are born in the foster home of one of our girls they get to give them the “whelp” name. So, here they are at 4 days old.
Final video and oh so cute…
I saved the best for last.
This is why I think our Australian labradoodle puppies are so special! Enjoy! I know that I do.
Eureka! I think I figured out how to get put movies in the blog…
Here and below, hopefully you will view the 5 week old puppies. I know how to do my camera but my flip video camera has been a bit harder to upload. I think I have it now.
Enjoy the “just turned 5 weeks and so very cute” puppies. I have found if you let your internet browser load it and play once (just go get a drink of water)… then play again, the sound and video line up much better.
Cinnamon’s three born on 3/3…
Cinnamon gave birth to three live puppies, 2 boys and one girl tonight. Although very excited about the litter, one puppy, the last in the xray, the last to be whelped, was a boy and was still born after several hours of waiting and a visit to the vets we worried this would be the case. The vet confirmed what we thought and one shot helped Cinnie deliver the pup with no other surgery or shot needed.
This ended the whelp on a sad note for us. We have been very lucky to never have had a still born puppy but still saddens us for the doodle that could have been. We believe in nature and following it’s mystery. For some reason, this was not meant to be.
We are blessed with the three, who are health and happy and loved. Treasured more so perhaps to honor the one that was not meant to be with them now, but perhaps in spirit.
I was very impressed from the start with the fact Cinnamon is a natural wonderful mother as her mother before her. She was stellar for her first whelp.
Welcome to the world, our new Australian Labradoodle puppies. You were meant to be.
As I upload the pictures I see my most favorite whelping blanket. How comforting I think, the same blanket that was used for Cinnie, is her first whelp blanket. This circle of life wraps round me, like the blanket. Through the eyes of my most favorite colorful blanket (next to my quilts), the hardy blanket my daughter and son used on our couch growing up, either watching TV or recovering from illness, to beach/boat blanket, then to Cinnamon and the “coffee” drink named litter birth, to now Cinnamon’s first litter.
A grand life for a blanet and a grand life for drifting blogger that only gifted people can follow.
Live well, laugh often, love much; and yes; look up to the stars. There is a puppy up there named “touch of cinnamon”. Who ever is there first between us better be packing a tennis ball. He get’s it from his parents.
“A watched doodle does not whelp”…
Yep; no puppies yet from Cinnamon.
Cinnamon is acting like her normal self, happy wagger, but does seem to be going a bit slower. Getting harder to get up on the bed and is enjoying the cool of the tiles on her tummy. The puppies are moving around and I think enjoying their time in her tummy and are in no rush to come out. That’s fine, stay in there and grow strong and healthy.
Cinnie is in the “safe” delivery zone so all is well. We are just excited to see the puppies; but it all happens when it should. So tonight, we will go to bed and wait for Cinnie to tell us ‘it’s time”.
“Bored Doodles”
From Bosley/Annie’s mom who emailed me today. It so captures what a bored doodle looks like.
Thank you Bonnie, you captured it in the photo. *click on the photo and it get’s bigger.. don’t ask me how. Adorable capture!
“Thought you’d enjoy these pictures I just took. Yes, it’s been raining all day and the dogs have yet to go to the dog park. Can you see how bored they are…especially Bosley.”
Izzy
I have been waiting for to share something we have waiting for a year to happen. A very special bundle named Izzy. We will know soon if she is meant to be ours and she has to be gold paw level.. see, I know what it means to wait!
I just had to let a little out as I just watched an adorable video on her… I can hardly wait to tell you all about her, her lines and a friendship that has developed through the love of the doodle; despite language issues and an ocean between us.
But for now my labradoodle family, here is a recent photo of Izzy. I am hoping she and Chief and then an up and coming boy we have will make pretty puppies. But, that is down the road and she has to test out not to just any level, but gold paw. I have researched her lines, not common here at all but from the original Australian Labradoodle stock. She and her mom have had a very good life of foster families and love and walks and scooter rides and watching agility trails… and we are blessed to be considered for this honor. So, I wait for news. I wait to know. I wait to tell you all about her. My breeder friends with IALA know how I have been waiting but they had to be just right, new “old” lines, raised in a home. I found a wonderful quality breeder that feels the same way as I do about their dogs.
So see, my new puppy owners, I wait with you. And, I think, it will all happen as it should. But, she is so cute..
I think it would be good “juju” “karma” what ever you call it if I just saw a glimpse of her and make her a category under our dogs.
What to expect this week
Wow! 1/2 way there! I have two puppy owners that have waited over a year for this litter. While you wait, be sure to read your resources and don’t forget to hang the common dog words on the fridge so your family all use the same word.
For our labradoodles, this is the week they start carrying things in their mouths and playing as they can now walk, see and hear. This is the week of play. Behind the play is the development of their “social pack” order. They will follow each other and play fight. They should see clearly during this week and have all their teeth by the end of the week. They should also hear clearly by the end of this week and are exposed to household noises they will hear as an adult. The puppy play pen gives them room to explore in a safe area. They get toys, balls, baby kongs and other things go on to stimulate them and challenge them mentally and physically. This is where the Kizer kids shine!
They will get more and more rice added to their milk and by the end of this week will have had some very wet ground puppy food added into their bowl to prepare the doodles for when Gracie will say “no milk for you!”.
They will be handled several times a day, their feet and toes touched, their ears and mouth and teeth touched. This is all to develop them into socialized adults. Play helps develop their minds and “problem solve”. By the end of this week we really see who they are becoming and have a pretty good idea of what match might be right. They have a U Go Dog in the puppy play pen to help them learn there is a designated spot to go.
They go from sleeping less (they still sleep much right now) to playing more and learn responses occur when the act or react. And then they roll into… well, I will save that for the next week.
