We have been busy with our family visits and puppy selections this last week. Rowdy, Mattie, and Duke have been adopted.

Shilo and Wishbone are currently available. All our families were having a hard time, saying all of them would fit into their family. But each family I think got the puppy that pulled them initially. Fun watching it all unfold!

Jeff has been building the next larger “puppy plan pen” as the puppies continue to grow and expand their world!

Those that follow our blog know we are doing an update on our website; mostly so Jeff and family can update easily. I am a bit of a computer geek, but for ease of use for everyone it makes sense.

What does this mean? I have to move over all our gallery photos (that would be over 46700 photos) and videos to the new site and make it all work! Ideally, make it so when people (and doodles, cause you know they surf the net when your gone) search our site, they can see all the history. I would much rather be visiting with puppies!

I am about to do a major upload / move. Hopefully, I will not mess it up (gulp).

Stay tuned! I hope.. email me if I messed up somehow. If I did, know, I am sorry; my intention is I want to get it to home parking place and where when Jeff says “I spelled something wrong” or “that does not make sense” he can just fix it.. life is too short to worry about typos. Daughter is always correcting the grammar.. I tend to just type it all out. Good to know our college education funds have not been wasted! In the next few days I will be adding a few links and pages to hold a spot and it will be saying “coming soon” as the internet speed on the farm is not your city internet speed. Your not going to be left out in the cold, I promise! But I need a spot to link it all together.

So; brace yourself.. I am doodling with cyber space. xx “Hello matrix, lets dance”

Happy Valentines Day! I got tracking news the doodles valentine present is coming today! Yippee! I think they will all love the ball launcher and I will keep you posted on if it is worth it or not.

We have to put up the 5 week photos and video. We have taken them but also have been busy with family visits all this weekend and remodeling people visiting. Loved all the visits and getting to know our new doodle families.

We will be adding the photos and who is still available tomorrow. In the meantime, Mattie has been adopted by the Rodriguez family and will live in Oregon. Rowdy has been adopted by Mary and Joni and will also live in Oregon. More information coming soon!

I just saw this on TV and I am ordering it for our doodles for valentines! During the move, I tweaked my shoulder and they are missing ball throwing. Now, we have several doodles and it is just Jeff and I. But I am wondering if any of my doodle owners have the need for the same thing? I bet the puppies will love it and you can load it up with different size balls and adjust the distant of launch.

It is called the Go Dog Go which reminds me of the Dr. Seuss book that I loved reading as a child. You load it up with tennis balls and it launches them at different increments. It comes with a remote control and timer. It is an auto ball thrower for dogs! Looks like fun for the doodles!

Busy is the best way to describe the coming weeks. This week the puppies really [...]

Busy is the best way to describe the coming weeks. This week the puppies really took off from barely getting in and out of the “puppy door” cut out of the whelp box to exploring and walking to running at the end of this week. The ugo dog was introduced, and they are all using it. The ugo dog is an indoor potty training system and it works great for the puppies at this stage. We test their hearing with sounds and little claps and all is well there as we watch them respond to our kissy sounds and saying puppies.

For their “hello 4 weeks” we introduced their first meal, that of a milky puppy mix which they walked through, lapped, and Wishbone slid . Tomorrow is their first bath and hopefully eye trim as they have their eye guard hairs that are growing into their eyes at stage. We also see more firsts come…that of tail wagging! Their grooming session teaches the puppy to be handled and touched; as ears are cleaned, paws handled, and their coat brushed. The start of this week the puppies are so much more “restless” where the whelp pen was the stable confined environment, when placed in the box, they quickly go out the door cut out; and so marks the socialization period where the once safe box needs to be bigger…as big as the world. They are moving from sleeping more to being awake for longer periods, with more energy! Hello puppyhood! Time of learning just went from 0 to 60! Everything is new, interesting and to be investigated. This is when we introduce all kinds of stimulation for fun, brain development, and social development.

With all going on, this is also when pictures become more blurred as they are very busy puppies!

Connected to the being able to hear and see well, the sense of smell continues to develop and with all of this, we see a rise in investigation, play, and more of exploring each other. Teeth are breaking through their gums now and they will start to chew and suck on their siblings more. This is the first of real play emerging, and pack order begins to emerge as the play is a natural part of development of their pack. They are now ready to move into their natural social existence. Puppy playing also helps with muscle development and coordination, toys are introduced this week.

Daisy’s mothering is also changing, going from being in the whelp pen constantly she is modifying her time in the nest and leaving them more and more alone. She takes longer walks not so worried about leaving the puppies alone for a short amount of time. She has also begun nursing them standing up ans she prepares them for the natural wean.

At the end of this week and when Daisy approves they also meet other dogs in our pack to help the puppies learn about pack order. Below is a short video snippet of the first meal, enjoy!
We moved the puppies whelp box into what we call the puppy play pen to allow them room to roam as the get their legs under them. By the end of this week they will be going in and out of the door cut out of the whelp box. This helps them transition to a doggie door as well. Enjoy!

Goodbye two weeks, and hello three weeks! What I call “transition” this week reminds me of the turning from a caterpillar to a butterfly; I adore this week! We watch the puppies sleeping the earlier weeks but this is emerging week to me and has lots of fun firsts and building blocks. Daisy’s whelp have all their eyes wide open and we see an increase in activity as sight and hearing starts coming “online” so to speak. Their brains engage from newborn basic instincts of sleep and eat to that of “brand new things every moment”.

Despite eyes being open they do not see well just yet. Around 3 weeks they will be able to clearly distinguish forms as their sight also refine. This time is the mark of transition from newborn whelp to puppy. It is a week of huge development! By the end of the transition stage the puppies will have all the basics; that of sight, hearing, walking and the ability to eliminate by themselves, something they can’t do just yet without the help of Daisy.

This next week will also be their first nail trimming along with their beginning of slight stressing to help the doodles get use to new experiences. A puppy exposed to slight stressors makes for a doodle that is not frightened of new experiences in adulthood. We have a whole schedule of new experiences throughout the time they are with us. This week will also bring more refined sense of smell and at the end of this week we typically see teeth starting to emerge. They gain a sense of their nest and litter mates and become more aware of each other this week and mouthing of their siblings start (and continue) through the end of their nesting time.

As their eyes open and all the sense come online they start to investigate the world around them. The litter will try out their legs as they go backward and forward and move to the first clumsy attempts of walking. We typically see the start of running by the end of this week. They always make me laugh as they learn to run they have not figured out how to stop the run! Lots of wobbly legs and making noises as they start hearing each other and the first bark, then startle as they look around wondering who did that? Sniffing is being noticed right now and through this week they start to gain a more refined sense of smell which will lead to them finding their first food other then Daisy’s milk bar. I love this week as we watch the doodles move from whelp (newborn) towards the first emerging of each baby doodle personality, pack order and puppyhood status. Tonight we move our whelp box into what we call the puppy play pen. This gives them more room to run and roam safely while they typically use their whelp box “nest” to sleep next to their siblings for the next few weeks. The play pen also allows Daisy to come in and out as she starts to leave the litter alone longer as she feels they are well on their way. The first two weeks she is very attentive making sure they are all feed, warm, and clean. Slowly she will also transition. And so it all starts this week and I am always amazed at the growth that happens. In just 5 weeks they are ready to join they forever families.

More to come, but for now, enjoy my cell phone video clip of the puppies this early morning. I have found the video camera in the packed boxes so more video snippets will be coming this week.

Parents, Warning! I uploaded to utube. At the end of the video snippet there are old snippets of Daisy’s first litter being born. I myself think birth of the doodles is always amazing, but you might get questions from your children and it is actual birth videos.
I had a very nice email waiting in my inbox telling me that Charlie Brown’s family have been watching the website for new puppies. I love getting pictures and sharing them, as then the doodles “siblings” and owners can also view them.

Charlie Brown was the first boy and first born of Daisy’s first litter in 2010. He reminds me of Duke of this litter when he was born. Fun watching them all grow and develop.

She sent me several photos, here are two of my favorites! Thanks as always to the family!
