Meet Our Dogs

All of our breeding Australian Labradoodles reside with us in our home or in an approved guardian home.  We don’t have kennels. We have homes. This way our Australian Labradoodles spend their days in a home as a loving family members.

The breeding dogs in our program are direct descendants of the Authentic Australian Labradoodle breeding stock of  Tegan Park or Rutland Manor who developed these multi-purpose dogs with hypo-allergenic coats, treasured character traits, as well incredible health, and conformation. All of our breeding dogs are thoroughly tested for hips and elbows through OFA, eye tests through Optigen for PRA, have the CEFR eye exam, DNA testing, blood chemistry, thyroid panel, and are screened for VWDg.  We are a long-time recognized breeder of and follow the International Australian Labradoodle Association of America guidelines.

Labradoodles are a cross-breed between Labrador Retrievers and Poodles. Unlike other cross-breeds the Australian Labradoodles were very carefully cross-bred (in Australia) to produce a dog with the service qualities of a Lab with the hypo-allergenic coat qualities of a Poodle. The resulting breed was intended as a service dog that could live in the home of people that suffered from allergies. Over time, Australian breeders carefully experimented with breeding to produce healthy, intelligent, hardy dogs with ideal coat quality. They did extensive genetic testing to eliminate hereditary illnesses or problems. Along the way, Australian breeders added other dog breeds (Irish Water Spaniel, Curly Coat Retriever, English Cocker Spaniel, and American Cocker Spaniel) into the mix to further infuse the breeding lines with the desirable characteristics of good health, intelligence, and hypo-allergenic coat.

When a Labradoodle breeder states they offer Australian Labradoodles, that is supposed to mean their lines are from the original stock of Australian Labradoodle – a dog that is multi-generational Labradoodle with careful breeding to ensure strong, healthy dogs.

Labradoodles have a different approach to breeding. Labradoodles are a cross between Labradors and Poodles. These dogs don’t have a multi-generational approach that eliminates some of the unwanted characteristics. For instance, if you have a first-generation American Labradoodle (50% Poodle/50%Labrador), you have a 50/50 chance of getting a dog that has a shedding coat, instead of a tight curly non-shedding coat. Everyone runs their program differently, here at Liberty Labradoodles, we love the blocky/boning added with the loving, caring, all-knowing puppy that connects with you and others that sometimes is just amazing. We have several in therapy lines; working therapy dogs. I think it comes from Libby, who is such a “mother”. We carefully ponder and select our breeding girls and boys. It took us years of searching for both our Chief and then later, our newest boy Banner. Many did not see the potential in them, but I did.

Now, that I have explained that; let’s meet the Doodles!
