Popsicle! Nothing says summer doodling like a homemade one

So, I follow a few “foodie” blogs and I happened upon a contest  in it’s second year. Popsicle Pops takes home made recipes and shares them and people try them out and vote. So now I am hooked~since I am also canning raspberry and cherry jam there were some awesome berry pop recipes to put my raspberry bushes to good use! And perfect for desert in summer. When it gets hot the doodles play in a plastic kiddie pool and yes, I do give them frozen treats. It’s the “dog days of summer” after all.

Yes, I am doodling with popsicle recipes now.

Ordered my fancy mold and while I waited for Amazon prime, looked through the recipes. I settled on Limesicles for the maiden voyage into Popsicle bliss. Nummy! So, I had to share. Here is the first batch (notice the canning jars in the background). 🙂

Mind you this is a human recipe but one which had great reviews.

And the recipe is SO Easy!!

2 Cups milk, 1 can (14 ounce) sweetened condensed milk, 6 large limes or 10 small (to get you to about 1/2 a cup of juice), 1/4 teaspoon of guar gum (see below).

In a mixing bowl, blend everything together and then pour in the mold.  See how pretty they come out from the mold? The picture is from the popsicle contest, but mine look just like it. 🙂  I loved the picture of the limes as well as the popsicles. Presentation is 1/2 the Popsicle I am sure.

affiliate links follow below, but at least you get the idea of what to order. I ordered the fabulous mold which has cute sides from Amazon after reading reviews. Mine came white on the bottom and the lid has metal on the inside, but plastic on the top (see picture above).

I altered the recipe I had found as from reading other recipes you stir in a thickener to also keep ice crystals from forming. it is called Guar Gum. Read the reviews on the amazon site, tells you how much to use and why.

Some stores might have it in your area, but you can also find it on Amazon:
