Shilo and her first Chanukah

Shiloh’s just a joy (most of the time, and generally except when she wants to go outside to take in the country smells, which is pretty much all of the time!) She sometimes can be a bit headstrong (e.g., on the “down” command), but her continuous smile really brightens a room, and she really is very smart. We really have to find some dog friends for her to play with, but the wet grounds have sort of dampened (get it?!) our enthusiasm for allowing her to romp with other dogs, only to come home a muddy mess, but I think that we’re really going to have to arrange some play dates for her pretty soon.

As of last Friday, when we took her to the vet, she was 14.2#, and very healthy. We just purchased a bigger crate for her and she’s really good at sleeping through the night. We typically do not put her in the crate during the day, but if we have to leave, we gate her in the laundry room and she can rest in the crate should she so desire.

As for the Chanukah picture, here’s a primer . . . the “head dress” is called a yarmulke. Latkes are potato pancakes that are fried in oil because Chanukah is a holiday that centers around the use of oil because the oil that lit the menorah (candelabra) in the holy temple lasted for eight days, the length of time it took to purify more oil, when there really was only enough to last for one day (if you believe that sort of stuff). That’s why the candelabra in front of the girls has room for eight candles and the “shamus (the servant)” And of course you can use the pictures, and I’ve attached a couple of others as well.

Very glad to hear that you son is back on US soil and that he’s safe and well. Our Alex has finished up interviewing xxxxx (personal information left out)…..

I don’t think that there could be another dog that could steal our hearts and affection as does Shiloh!

Talk with you soon!
